OK.. Here Is The Thing About Tx. A.G Greg Abbott
from MSNBC
By Frank HeinzNBCDFW.comupdated 11:45 a.m. CT, Wed., Jan. 28, 2009
A Dallas man has filed for divorce from his husband but the state of Texas is refusing to hear the case.
Attorney General Greg Abbott said that since Texas law prohibits same-sex marriages and civil unions, the men could not be divorced in Texas since their union is not recognized to exist in Texas.
Now, here is a little bit about Greg Abbott:
From Texas Weekly..
When a 75-foot oak tree snapped and fell, crippling a jogger named Greg Abbott in July 1984, he did what most Texans would do: He sued the owner of the tree. A few months later, Abbott's attorney also sued the tree-trimming company that had worked on the giant oak, and within a year, the homeowner, the tree company, their insurance companies and Abbott had agreed to an out-of-court settlement that would pay Abbott's current and future medical bills and compensate him for mental anguish and for some of the income he lost because of the accident.
Abbott, who is now a champion of tort reform running for attorney general of Texas, says he hears no disharmony between the actions he took then and the positions he's taking now. The legal remedies available to him when the accident occurred are still available now, he says. If the accident happened the same way now, he says, it would probably result in the same kind of settlement.

January 20, 2009: What a Wonderful Day
Yes. In spite of some disappointments, this is a wonderful day.
I welcome this day with guarded hope and optimism that, with President Obama, we will correct the injustices of the past eight years and correct the injustices that existed before.

Flashback-1989 March For Gay Rights, Austin Tx.
ACT UP!!!
2106 was eventually overturned by the Supreme Court through Lawrence v. Texas. This made any law prohibiting same sex sex unconstitutional.
I'm on the right. John Lewis and Fred Sanchez complete the line. West Texas consisted of Lubbock, Amarillo, Midland Odessa, and Wichita Falls.
The Faces of Hate. Some are dead(Jesse Helms) Other are still around spreading hate(Phyllis Schlafly, Pat Roberstson).
The start of the march
Steps of the Capitol.
Towards the back of the March. The street to the capitol was solid with people.

Bishop Gene-Victim of An HBO Blackout
I rushed home from work, specifically, to catch the opening prayer of the inaugural festivities. I rushed home to see an openly gay minister, no Bishop, present to the world a celebration of diversity and inclusion, words and art, a new day and a new beginning. What a waste of time.
From Joe.My.God
...only the people AT the concert heard that, because HBO did not televise Robinson's message. Who engineered this blackout of Robinson? I suspect we'll hear lots about this in days to come.
The Text of Bishop gene's Prayer here
Call HBO and register your anger here
At this point, i do not know who is responsible. I will reserve judgment until i hear more. This is very disappointing.
Update:From AfterElton..
Sunday afternoon, HBO televised the Obama Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial — a concert planned by the Presidential Inauguration Committee — to kick off the festivities surrounding Obama's inauguration on Tuesday.
Openly gay bishop Gene Robinson delivered the opening prayer before the start of the concert, but the prayer was not included as part of HBO's broadcast.
Contacted Sunday night by AfterElton.com concerning the exclusion of Robinson's prayer, HBO said via email, "The producer of the concert has said that the Presidential Inaugural Committee made the decision to keep the invocation as part of the pre-show."
Update 2:
“We had always intended and planned for Rt. Rev. Robinson’s invocation to be included in the televised portion of yesterday’s program. We regret the error in executing this plan – but are gratified that hundreds of thousands of people who gathered on the mall heard his eloquent prayer for our nation that was a fitting start to our event.” -- PIC communications director Josh Earnest
Update 3:
AfterElton got a further statement from HBO: "It was not an HBO omission. We merely televised the show beginning at 2:30pm. Had the PIC told us upfront that this was to be part of the telecast, it would have been." According to AfterElton, HBO has given the PIC permission to post Robinson's speech on their website.
